Homeaway/VRBO suggestions on transferring reservations

I'm about to purchase a new cabin for short term rentals. Part of the deal is getting the $9000 worth of existing reservations that exist through the end of 2018. Airbnb has a wonderful solution to co-managing this process but Homeaway/VRBO does not. The seller will not cancel the reservations and ask the guests to re-book as she feels a personal obligation to those who have booked with her. How would you handle the transition of VRBO rentals being managed by the seller? Does anyone have experience solving this kind of issue?
