Building access, secuity, intercom, secure entry etc

I I have a 12 unit apartment building currently there is no type of secure access. I would like to add a system where my tenants would have to buzz in a visitor and control access to the building... As inexpensively as possible and some kind of system that will last. Any suggestions or successes or failures doing this?
