Is a shared property eligible for section 8?

I'm looking at purchasing a property to renovate and both rent out and live in. I would live in the small garage apartment/ accessory dwelling unit, while renting out the main house via section 8. I can't find any information anywhere that addresses this issue. The residence will be up to code, in good condition, so there won't be any issues there. The yard would be shared between myself and the tenant. Does anyone know if this situation would present any problems for section 8 approval?
