Should I Let My Tenant Buy That?!

Hi BP, One of my tenants keeps leaving the stove & oven on and the smoke alarms frequently go off... He has offered to buy a new stove with "lights" to help him remember to cut it off. I've thought about letting him buy one and giving him reduced rent until its paid for, letting him buy it and hopefully teach him to not burn the house down, or just buying one myself. I guess he could take the stove with him when he leaves, but is there any reason why I shouldn't let him buy one? Thoughts? Thanks, Coty

Thanks Nicole and Colleen! I am letting him buy a nice new oven and got in writing that he is leaving it in the house once he vacates. :) I can't say this will fix the issue of him forgetting, but I'll take it as a gift. All our insurances are up to date.
