We don't discriminate based on legal source of income, but we do require income to be verifiable. We ask for proof of income in the form of paycheck stubs, benefit award letters, new hire letters, W-2s, 1099s, etc. If a person is receiving "disability income" it is likely through the social security administration. The SSA provides benefit award letters and 1099s. Or if the person is receiving disability benefits through insurance, there will be a paper trail there too.
Bank statements will show direct deposit information to an extent, but would not be enough to satisfy our documentation requirement.
@Joshua D. Since you posted this in the Renter's forum and your profile doesn't show that you're a real estate investor, I'm assuming you're a renter asking for advice? Gather together all the documentation you can regarding all sources of income for your household and present it in a clear manner to your potential landlord. Present your whole application package in a way that demonstrates you are a responsible person and would be a good tenant.
