VRBO vs Agent for high end out of town vacation rental

Does anyone have recommendations re renting out your out of town vacation rental withVRBO/ Homeaway and remote keyless access  vs using an agent? I am finding agents only broker but decline to actually take responsibility to manage, so given VRBO why pay that high percentage? Please forgive me if this has already been addressed. It is my first post to BP.
