Lease goof up in Reno area
My brother just called me. He has moved to the Reno area to take his first position after earning his bachelors degree. He had temporary housing that just ran out. In a rush to find housing he went and signed a lease to be one of 3 room mates in an apartment. The land lord said that he couldn't know who his room mates were until he signed the lease because of privacy issues.
Well, he signed it. (*face palm)
He went to meet the new room mates and:
1) one has a cat "service animal." He chose the apartment partially based on their no pets policy.
2) They smoke pot on the porch (now legal in NV).
3) They participate in various other activities like drinking and vaping.
(You may care to know that my brother holds very strict religious beliefs that keep him from using drugs or alcohol and makes being in the presence of such things EXTREMELY uncomfortable for him. Well, I should say that being in the presence is not a big deal, but living 24/7 in that environment will be pretty unbearable for him)
I am fully aware how someone with his belief system shouldn't have entered into the contract blindly. I'm not looking to be lectured on my brothers behalf :P
What I was curious about, is if there is any recourse due to his not being given the chance to evaluate his living conditions prior to signing the lease.
Thoughts?

Turns out he used the good ole technique of adding value to the other person. He helped them understand the steps they could take to become a provider of housing for his company that often has need of short-term leases and is hiring a ton and needs to help new employees find housing quickly.
THEN he explained his situation. They put him in another house with people whose morals are much more in line with his.
Anyway, Bram, thanks for taking time to post.
