Disposition of Security Deposit in NY

I recently had a tenant move out who caused damage in excess of their security deposit.  I sent them an itemized list of the charges/repairs and a bill for the excess.  They are requesting that I send them copies of the repair receipts within 15 days.  Is this something that is required by NY State Law?  Also, what are the laws for any damage that is identified in the future that they have caused, provided that it was, without a doubt, caused by them?

Thanks in advance.
