Starting a Property Management Company

I currently only own one rental and am trying to get into real estate full time. My mom is a reputable realtor in our area with experience in owning her own rentals. Currently I've been researching and kicking around the idea of starting a property management company.  I know multiple people that would be willing to give me shot with some of their properties.

My question to you guys. Would it be stupid to tackle this without much personal experience? I've heard horror stories of managers and I know that in time I could do better. My main goals would be to implement software and systems in different areas to make it efficient and investor/tenant friendly.

Thank you,

Luke Jackson
