Durham needs landlords who will accept Section 8

An interesting article at: https://www.indyweek.com/news/archives/2017/07/12/... - speaks of the problems Section 8 voucher holders are having finding landlords in Durham who will take Section 8. I currently have 7 rental units (with at least 3 more in works) - and 2 of those 7 are tenants with vouchers.

Each time I have a vacant unit, I try to make it available to someone with a voucher, but more often than not, one problem or another prevents me from doing so. DHA won't pay the rent I'm asking (and not even close). The tenant has recent criminal background or prior eviction. Or the tenant plans to have someone living in the home who is NOT on the lease, and when they learn I'll evict for this reason, they back out - wasting everyone's time.

@Thomas S. - As with most things, I can see it from both sides... I've managed to find Section 8 tenants without any "grief" - and they were just seeking a reasonably nice / safe place for their kids to live. I find that all too many Section 8 eligible properties are places that most people would not want to live. Hard to expect pride of occupancy in a pit.
