trying to foreclose on land

Land was sold with owner financing. Because our finances have improved we would not mind getting the land back. How do we go about it? If it's sold that's fine, but we can't do anything with the land at this point. Have not received payment since Nov. of 2008. Feel like I'm getting a run around with lawyer since April of 2009. Went through process with notices to buyer. Lawyer says next step is to post notice on the land and sell on court house steps. With every call made to them is a different story. First it was that NC laws had changed and today it is our county law has changed putting everything on hold again. Run around? What can we do to get something settled? Any help would be appreciated.
