older tenant with possible dementia

Hello BP

My older tenant, lives by himself, has possible early stages of dementia. I got a telephone call from him yesterday saying that squatters has taken over his apartment. He called the police and once police leave, the squatters go through the window and occupy his apartment again. I told him that he is the legal tenant and has lease agreement. The police should treat this as breaking and entering.

When I called the police to see if report was taken, there were 4 times that police came out over a period of two days. I suspect that police did not do anything because there were no actual squatters.

Tenant has called several times, and complained by squatters. I asked him if they were there now, and he said yes. I asked for him to take a pic and send to me. Tenant said picture is fuzzy.

I asked for him to text me nearest relative cell phone number.

Not sure how to deal with this. I do not believe there are squatters, and especially not 40 as he said per conversation. There issues of safety, mental, lease, and legal. Worst case scenario is that he burns down apartment due to leaving stove on or burning food.

Need suggestions.
