Background check without social security number

Hi all,

I have a property in an area that has a fairly large immigrant population.  Many don't have a social security number but they do have a passport.  

Does anyone have a recommended approach to doing a background check on such folks (process or recommended vendor)?  All the background/credit checks methods I know of require a social security number.

@Nick M. We run into this on occasion. I would make sure they have good references, good income, good landlord reference, good work history. Also find a number of resources to run a criminal BG check.
