How to find the players in my market/community

I'm looking to find the big players in my market/community to learn and model some of their systems and most importantly bring about value that could lead to deals or even possibly a partnership. I'm having trouble finding others in my area. Any advice on where to look or how to properly go about that venture would be appreciated. Thanks!
