Have a tenant starting in 2 months. When to get security deposit?

They just passed background and credit report today. 

When should o have them sign the lease and cut the check for the deposit and first month's rent?

Get deposit in full, and have them sign the lease at that time, I wouldn't let them go more than 48 hours without signing and paying and deposit is money order or cashiers check or cash ,no personal checks, rent in full day you give keys for move in.
