Are you caught up in the New South Rentals "fraud" in NC?

Good morning, BPers in the Fayetteveille, NC area.

As some of you in that market may know, the owner of New South Rentals, Susanne Gee has moved overseas and apparently (allegedly) has stolen / lost / misplaced about 60,000 dollars in tenant deposits and rent.  The North Carolina Real Estate Commission is aware and investigating the case.

For me, I guess I'm lucky that I only had one property and the worst will be having to come up with my tenant's security deposit (about 500 bucks).  Others may be in way worse shape, especially if they had multiple properties with Ms. Gee.

Anyone else in this market affected by this issue?  Are you planning any legal recourse?

J

@James H. I am so sorry for you and the other investors/owners. I tried looking up Ms. Gee, but did not find an article or anything like that. This is the kind of information I like to share, so that other owner/investors make sure to conduct their due diligence before hiring someone. I know that their BBB rating is not good, but I did not dig deep on anything. If you find an article, please share with everyone, and thanks for the heads up. Hopefully the RE Commission can make some of the investors whole with the Real Estate Recovery Fund (not sure if NC has the same thing Florida does)
