One property, two electric bills?

Im under contract to buy a property that has a 2/1 and a 1/1 on it, but both are on one gas and electric meter.  Ive spoken to an electrical contractor about having a second meter and box added to the 1/1 so each will be on its own meter.  My question is, will each meter have a separate bill from the electric company? Or will there still be only one bill for the entire property, with each buildings usage reported?  The property is in Routt county, CO.  Any ideas on how this shakes out or who to further ask.  Also, Im looking to do the same with the gas.  Is this any different than electric?
