Tenants or Homeowners when a home invasion is involved?

Has anyone had to deal with an issue like this in their rentals? If so were the costs associated with the invasion passed along to the tenant or did you just claim against the Home owners insurance policy? Any comments or responses are appreciated. This is appearing to be a very targeted situation as I'm in a good area. Thanks for any feed back.
