Liquified ... double dipping
Live in Lexington, Ky. Real Estate Agent did not disclose gas heat. The lease states "ALL UTILITIES" . 7 months after signing lease, they call wanting money for back gas. I tell them we have no gas. Gas meter is on the other side of the duplex so I never saw it. I made attempt to have gas put in my name and so they opened investigation and said coming in to read meter, took the meter out of the house. Voila, no gas heat, no hot water. Landlord said I could pay them $300 over the next two months and they would turn the gas back on. I told them it was undisclosed and I wanted out. They agreed. They switched agents, new agent says that she wont do anything to help. We left due to no gas, got new place. She is threatened eviction. Saying we will never find a place to live for next 7yrs. She says if the house rents out she still charging two months rent of liquefied damages. the lease states that but I am wondering is double dipping legal in KY even if it states on lease? What options do I have. Spouse is military and his name on lease. He needs good credit score. Thoughts?
