Tax Question: Deduct Sales Tax on Roof?

I paid $15,500 total for a new roof on my SFR rental in 2016. In doing my 2016 taxes the invoice breaks out local and state sales tax (~ $1,500) on the roof. Can I segment it and include the tax portion on my SCH E (with my property tax expense) and then depreciate only the materials and labor costs (~$14,000) ?
