Best and worst states to invest in?

Hello all, I've been doing a lot of research lately about where I should purchase a rental property (or multiple). I was wondering which states have landlord-friendly laws, and which ones don't, to save me some headache. I live in Illinois, which I imagine is very tenant-friendly, but I'm not opposed to out-of state investing. Which states are the best and worst for landlords? Thanks in advance for your input! - Nina

Elbert Dockery Thanks so much for the area-specific information! I'm definitely considering Wisconsin.

Steve Kontos Thank you for your input! Very useful. I'll definitely try to find those lists.
