Eviction without a lawyer

Hi all.... Currently having to evict a tenant ...he text us on the 3rd of this month that he would be moving on the 15th and that he would pay for the 2 weeks....well...he never paid for the 2 weeks...and we went to the house on the 15th and all of his things are still there. We left a note...he texted us again saying..sorry not enough time to move...but no payment again...now he does not reply our texts and does not take our calls...and said he will move by month end. I already left the Pay rent or quit notice...to pay by today or be evicted...well...no check again... A lawyer charges me about $375 for an eviction...can I do it my self to try and save some? and if so HOW? Any help would be appreciated.

If you are going to prosper in this business you really need to know your own local codes and statutes.

Most states and municipalities have them online for you to study. You can rest assured that bad tenants already know the pertinent laws very well.

Some states require an attorney for evictions, some do not. Get to know the law, and get to know the inside of Magistrates Court (or whatever they call it there).

Personally, even if I cannot collect from a bad tenant, I always try to get a judgement that will follow them (if their next LL is savvy enough to look for it).

Good luck.
