House hacking: How do I make sure I am protected legally

Hello everyone!

I am planning on House Hacking with a duplex in order to live for free. How do things work on the legal side of that? How do I make sure I am protected from things that could go wrong or having an issue with a tenant? Sense I'll be using an FHA loan, I wont be able to have it under an LLC. Does this mean I will have no protection? I hope this is the right place for this. I am new to the forums. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Jonathan
