Requesting a tenant's monthly budget

Are you allowed to request a monthly budget from a tenant in the application process? Or, put it in the agreement that if they miss a rent payment you can request a budget with their monthly expenses?  Just curious.

I think it's important that you keep your rental life and CFP life separate. I would even suggest you not take on any current renters as clients with your CFP business. I
