Raising rent on a section 8 house?

I have a house that has a long-term section8 tenant...like hed lived there almost half my life when i bought it. This was my first rental purchase and am now a bit wiser which has led me to the realization that the rent is 15 to 25% under market. I left rent what it was when i bought it but now am realizing i need to raise it. The way section8 works in my county they pay roughly half...or atleast thats how it works out on my house now. Does anyone have experience raising rent with section8?
