Sewage Drain Repalcement

I have a house that was built in 1959 that has a drain leak under the slab. I have had 1 company give me a quote to tunnel about 8 feetunder the house and do a complete re-route for the whole house. I also had them check with a camera and came up with 4 areas that they "think" is compromised. There wasn't a huge difference between the quotes especially after having to repair interior flooring if they were to go the second route by busting holes in the slaband just fix the 4 areas.

1. Is it safe tunneling under a slab foundation?

2. I would like to get quotes from more than 1 company but majority of plumbers I contact don't tunnel and want $600-$900 to do a hydro static sewer line test. I understand their reasoning to narrow down the exact spot of the leak but I don’t want to spend $1500-$2700 to get 3 quotes.

What are your thought?

Thanks in advance,

Jody
