SCAMMER ALERT Shoreline, WA
Hey Guys! I am a local Renter in Seattle & RE Broker!
Just a heads up that I have noticed a few rental listings have placed some phony ads up on craigslist & other rental sites. Stating they have a rental property available for an extremely great price. They respond via email and give you the run around as if they were owners or property managers of the home. Seems legit until you actually check the facts of the home.
I know the majority of us own rental properties and self-manage or use property managers but this can be productive information to those of you that are landlords or looking to begin picking up rental properties. When you are listing your property it's very important to produce the unit in a very formal and professional way. Just posting up a picture of the exterior of the home can actually derail the perfect tenant from contacting you.
This might be a redundant post but every few times it's a good reminder that they are leeches out there trying to make a few bucks on your property without your permission and end up scamming good people. If anything Google image search is a good way to see who is connected to your property. Also learning about your demographic or your market can help guide the perfect tenant towards your rental. Most of these rental units go towards people who refer them or get with an agent and post on the MLS.
