Security Deposit in Trust Account - Kansas

I recently bought a rental property and have a renter in the property.  I am just now learning about laws regarding the security deposit.

  • In Kansas does the security deposit need to go into a trust or will a basic savings account work?
  • In Kansas, do we need to pay a 3% return on the security deposit when the tenant moves?
  • For those of you that own rentals, what do you deduct from the security deposit when tenants leave?

Thank you so much!
