Tips For Renting / How To Claim Income

I just purchased a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house and am living in one room and renting out on of the other rooms.

Is there a special way to claim this renter for my income?
Can renovations be claimed on taxes?
Is there a way to LLC. (or turn it into a business)?

Pretty much any advice or anything you guys think I might be missing would be greatly appreciated.
