Late fees interpretation help

Trying to decipher late fee verbiage on a contract that I inherited.  If there is 5 day grace period with $50 late fee and 25 every day thereafter, that means that a payment on the 6th has $50 fee, a payment on the 7th $75, 8th $100 and so on? Seems like a dumb question but the contract from our former property manger where the verbiage is ambiguous and could be interpreted as adding the per day fee right away so the payment on the 6th is $75 the 7th $100 and so on. Any thoughts on this?  what is typical?
