Has any one heard of a landlord requiring a W-9 from a tenant?
I am curious what the purpose of requiring a tenant to sign a W-9 might be. I have never had to do that when I rented before. The landlord is saying their bank requires it.

I'll stand corrected here, we don't have interest bearing deposit accounts. Yes, a W-9 would technically be required if you are required to issue a 1099 for paid interest. What a PITA.
