Delay in getting a court date

I am from Michigan and submitted summons and complaint after 7 day notice. I didn't hear from the court so I called. One of the two district judges is on vacation so there is a delay in getting my case with the judge. It will be 30 days to court date. I think it is supposed to be 10 days after the 7 day notice expires. That would be 17 or 18 days to court date. Can I request a different judge in a nearby district or do I have to wait ?
