tenant paid 1 week rent on last month

Hi,

My tenant was on a month to month basis. He put his notice on June 3 stating that he will either vacate on July end or August 1st week. He finally gave the keys and moved out on August 7th. Should he be paying rent only for 1 week of August? Or do I have the right to charge him for the whole month of August?
