Townhouses is Raleigh

so I finally got a job down here after a couple of weeks of waiting and now I can obtain a mortgage. I was checking on townhouses and noticed there are a lot in my price rage (anything 150k or less) and in good shape. My question is how do you find out if you can bu the property and then are able to rent it out. And is that a good area to buy townhouses how well do they rent out etc...

@Jesse Mistretta got it. There are copius discussions about pros, cons and nightmares related to investing in properties with HOAs. As mentioned earlier, do your research on the HOA, its solvency, responsibilities, and the people a part of and in charge of it. Buying in an HOA neighborhood essentially means you are becoming business partners with your neighbors, which can be great or horrible.

FWIW, I own investments with and without HOAs, and I'll likely no longer invest in properties with HOA. Not because of the fees, but because of the risks of exposing my investment and property to the decisions of others and a greater number of situations outside of my control.
