Why allow pets
I am not trying to argue a point, but I have a strict no pet policy now because we have had so many problems. In one case the tenant's dog vomited and defecated all over our nice wood floors. In other cases the dog left a terrible smell in our carpet. There are also moldings and doors with scratch marks etc. Do those of you who allow pets know something I don't?

I allow pets in some of my properties. I get higher rent usually for doing so. One unit I get $200 a month above market rent for allowing a pitbull since they can not find a landlord that will allow pitbulls. My tenants with pets stay longer, and when I do have a turnover, Im able to fill the vacancy quicker.
I find that tenants who are not going to take care of a property will not take care of it whether they have pets or nor. Tenants who are going to take care of a property will do so whether they have a pet or now.
