Dodged a Bullet on That One

Just wanted to share a quick story.  I posted my property for rent.  Tenants looked awesome on paper and seemed really nice.  I was ready to send them lease agreement and take security deposit.  I said to myself, "Run the play. Make sure to verify employment and landlord references."  I called her employer.  It checked out.  Everything looking good. I called her current landlord. No answer. Here is where it gets interesting.  I called her previous landlord and she picked up.  Come to find out, although tenant paid on time and never missed a payment, tenant basically destroyed her house.  And let a lot of family members live there that were not on the lease.  Over 7k in damages.

Moral of the story: Always, always, always check references.  I definitely dodged a bullet on that one.
