What can be done if a renter with an expired lease doesn't leave?

Is this considered a trespassing issue where the police can be called or is it something else?  Thank you for your thoughts on a MN property.

First, did you serve notice to this tenant that the lease was being terminated (not being renewed) and s/he was to vacate the premises?   In many jurisdictions at the end of a term lease, unless notice of termination is given, the lease automatically becomes a periodic monthly.  Did the tenant continue to pay rent?

If you did not serve notice, it is possible your tenant may be legitimately staying on.

If you did serve notice, or there is no automatic transition to a monthly tenancy in Minnesota, then check your tenancy laws to see how "over-holding" is to be addressed.
