Cant' reach the 2% rule in my country

Hi guys,

I'm a new member and I come from Tahiti (French Polynesia). I'm a bit worried about the 2% rule (same for the 50% and the 70%) as it's just impossible to reach in tahiti. The market price is very high.. The normal price for a one room appartement is between 160 000 and 200 000$ and the rent for these appartements is between 900 and 1200$...

Should I find another niche like seasonal and vocational rental or anything else? Should I consider to invest abroad? Thank you !
