Fair Housing Act Gender Discrimination

This is more out of curiosity than anything, but it sounds like the Fair Housing Act makes it illegal to have discriminatory advertising against a protected class, gender being one. Does that mean all the Craigslist (and potentially Airbnb) housing ads requiring female renters is illegal? Or is there a finer point I'm missing?
