tenants report mold but restoration company says nope not there..
This gets stranger by the moment. Just wanted to share....
Tenants where renting for a full year and then renewed last Oct-2015 for another 2 years having already lived in the home for a FULL year prior to the renewal. Prior to that another tenant lived in the home without issue.
Recently, the current tenant (only the wife) says that there is mold in the home and that she is reacting to it based on a rash. Presumably, she went to a doctor but is unclear communicating to the PM what "type" of doctor and cannot produce any documentation that shows whatever it is she has AND that the home is the cause.
I told the PM to have a professional mold restoration company go out to the home and do what ever testing they need to prove one way or the other. They came back and said there is no mold in the home. I also asked them to do an inspection to see what the living conditions are at the home, that is scheduled for tomorrow.
So, now I get a call from the PM who says that the tenant (again only the wife seems to be complaining) still says she and her husband want out of the home. They did some sort of test (where this came from I have no idea) by taking wet towels, placing them on the floor and then on her arm. :\ I thought I had heard it all.
I told my PM that I think they just want out of the lease for what ever reason and this is what they have come up with.
They renewed last Oct-2015 for 2 years, which puts them out at Oct-2017. I think they just want to get out of the lease and this is there way to do it. Why not just say so and forfeit the security deposit? Why go through all this?
