What does "Pest Control Services" cover in Seminole County, FL?

I live in Seminole County, FL (Winter Springs).  My lease is almost a year old and states "The tenant shall provide his or her own pest control services".  Upon moving in last year I asked the landlord's agent "Are you going to exterminate initially because there are a large number of spiders and huge cockroaches?" and her response was "Welcome to Florida".  So we have taken care of all "bugs" in the home ourselves and they have been under control all year.  Today, I am hearing things in the attic and occasionally in the walls - maybe rodents?  The house has the original roof from 1988 and I'm wondering if critters have come in through it.  Does my "pest control service" clause make me liable for invading attic critters?
