Commercial Insurance for Rentals

Hi All: i wanted to get bids on the commercial insurance policy for our single family rental houses to see if I could get a lower rate than what we are currently paying. The new agents i contacted all asked for the old policy -which includes what we currently pay-in order to review our current coverage in order to give us a yearly price.. When i refused , they would not give me a price or go any further---.they each said it was normal procedure within commercial insurance to review the current policy and know what we are paying as part of that review. .I feel that would be like getting a bid from a contractor and then giving the bid to the other contractors before hiring someone. Does anyone know if this is "normal" procedure for commercial carriers? I cannot believe it can be. Joann
