Potential tenant screening that gets state assistance?
I am currently marketing a rental and today I am showing the property.
I was contacted by a company called Preferred Alternatives of Missouri who help find homes for handicap individuals. The tenant in question will have 24 hr assisted living. There rent will be paid for by the state. I was told by the contact at Preferred Alternatives that the person they are calling for does not have any credit established and is on a fixed income. I use smart move to screen my potential tenants and I assume they would fail the screening because of their situation. Has anyone dealt with a situation like this?
I know this person might not be qualified because of credit or income but with the state paying 100% of rent it seems like a good candidate.

You'll want to check with the agency if there are any caps or conditions they stipulate such as max rent that will be paid, utilities that must be included in the rent or other conditions. Otherwise I would say as long as all of the rental terms are clearly understood by all parties, it would be worth giving it a try. I've heard it can turn out well for the landlord overall.
