First Rental Property

I just purchased my first rental property last week and am looking to renovate ASAP to start generating income from tenants.

My question is that I am having a hard time picking out fixtures/vanities/cabinets etc while renovating the bathroom/kitchen.  I am not trying to go too high end but I don't want anything too cheap either.  Someone told me that the nicer you fix it up the better tenants you'll have, but at some point, that ratio diminishes I would assume.  It's hard because being my first house, my personal preference is coming into play a lot as well.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

When I completed a remodel of my first rental property I had to redo the whole kitchen and I chose to use Ikea for everything. The cabinets took a little longer to install because you have to assemble them but if anything gets damaged I can just replace the small peice of the cabinet and not the whole thing like most pre-made ones. Plus for me it was all tax free from Portland Oregon.
