Foreign Tenant Having Issues Mailing Check

I have a tenant who is a visiting scientist from China. He is having issues mailing the check. His preference is to bring it to my husband's office, as they work on the same campus. THe first time he did this because the rent was late and I called him and told him to pay asap and this was the best solution. The next time the plan was to pay for e-transfer, but he had some difficulty and thought the previous arrangement would be okay. My husband is not the property manager, I am. And while we let him do that twice, I have been strongly discouraging it since. (My suspicion is that he would rather handle this with a male rather than a female and that bothers me as well.) Last month I dropped off a SASE at his unit so he could see how it is done. He says in China the postal service is not trustworthy. He did, though, use the stamped envelope I brought him and the rent arrived without issue. I was sure to email him as soon as I got it so he would know the check arrived. This month, he has regressed again. HE JUST BROUGHT THE CHECK TO MY HOUSE! I went kinda nutso on him and told him next time to put the damned check in the mail! He gave me some excuse about working a lot and not wanting the check to be late...to which I replied that the 1st comes at the same interval every month! Anyway, I don't know if anyone has had this culture issue before or not...would it be too much hand holding to give him a stack of SASE's?
