Liquidated damages clause
I am currently buying a home in which I plan to live in for a few years and then rent out, but my question involves the apartment I am living at at the moment. My lease ends in March '16 I live in kansas and there was an agreed liquidation damages clause which I signed on the lease stating that 3 months rent had to be paid when breaking the contract. That's $2130. My understanding is that they can get liquidated damages for unpaid rent, and they currently have a 2 month waiting period to get in... So are they allowed to charge me even though they will rent the apartment out the month after I leave?
