Liability Concerns of a New Landlord

I recently purchased a house that I'm going to tear down but it will be a few months before everything is in place. I have the option of renting out the house in the meantime but I'm a little weary as I have no experience as a landlord and the house was built in the 1940's. I'm wondering if there's too much I don't know from a liability standpoint to make it worth the few months rent I would pocket.  Thanks for any advice!
