Canadian needing info about renting in the U.S.

So, I'm a Canadian citizen and I started a relationship with someone from North Carolina. I'm currently a homeowner and landlord here in Canada so I'm somewhat familiar with the fact that when I move to the states, my potential landlord will want to do a background check on me.

I'm just wondering what information an American landlord would need from someone who was moving from another country and if it would pose any problems for me finding a place to rent or if I would have to jump through more hoops to find a home.

Thank you.
