Small Claims Court Fun & Games

So I'm down at the local small claims court last week pursuing a summary ejectment. Before the session starts I get to talking with another LL with properties in various other counties. He tells me that one county over it can get crazy in court.

For instance, one particular magistrate makes him spend tweny minutes proving his case, grills him pretty intensively, and requires that he produce every piece of paper that might be remotely relevant.

Worse yet, even if the defendant does NOT show up, the magistrate still makes the LL exhaustively prove his case and jump through the same hoops.

Maybe I'm spoiled because locally I've never faced that kind of nonsense.

But here's my question: is that type of goofiness the norm or the exception to the rule?
