Background checks

I am trying to find the best way to make background checks from my PC on potential renters. I see several companies that offer such services online and don't know one from the other (i.e. Intelius, CriminalWatchdog and many more).

For people who regularly make checks, have you found a difference in these companies? Which one has worked for you for financial and criminal background checks?

I searched old posts and found several that referred to background checks, but I could not find one that gave the service they used.

Thanks,

Dwayne

Running a credit check is the least important part of the screening. Most tenants in low and lower-middle income rentals will have terrible credit. What I'm primarily interested in are looking at their eviction record; looking at their criminal record; and looking at their lawsuit history.

I agree with Heathen that NTN is one of the better screening services.

I would certainly charge more than $11.81 for an application fee. Charge $25 or $35 and have a nice lunch on the difference! I don't work for free - do you?

You can also do a lot of the screening for free by looking at your local court records online.

Good Luck,

Mike
